A simple guide to how our remote menopause consultations work, follow-up, when to seek help, and how to contact us.
How Remote Menopause Consultations Work
Remote menopause care allows you to access specialist support from home, at work or wherever suits you. Consultations are delivered by experienced menopause clinicians using secure systems that protect your privacy.
1. Before Your Appointment
You may be asked to complete:
- A symptom questionnaire
- A medical history form
- Details of current medication
- Recent blood pressure or weight readings (if available)
Providing this information in advance ensures your consultation is thorough and personalised.
2. During Your Consultation
A remote consultation is similar to a face-to-face appointment and includes:
- A full discussion of your symptoms and concerns
- Review of medical history and risk factors
- Assessment of suitability for HRT or other treatments
- Explanation of treatment options
- A personalised management plan
We think our patients get the most from their consultations by using video consult, but if you prefer to speak on the phone we can offer this instead.
3. Choosing & Starting Treatment
Your clinician may recommend:
- HRT (oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone)
- Non-hormonal treatments
- Vaginal oestrogen or moisturisers
- Lifestyle and self-management advice
- Screening or blood tests if clinically indicated
Prescriptions are issued electronically, and you can arrange prompt delivery via our partner pharmacy.
Monitoring & Follow-Up
Regular follow-up ensures your treatment remains effective and safe.
1. Initial Follow-Up
Typically arranged 8–12 weeks after starting or changing treatment to:
- Review symptom improvement
- Check for side effects
- Adjust dosage if needed
- Provide guidance on long-term treatment
2. Ongoing Monitoring
You’ll get the most from your ongoing menopause care by having an annual review with your specialist doctor. As you move through the menopause transition, your treatment needs may change. An annual review gives us the chance to look at how you are feeling and make sure your care remains both effective and safe.
During your review we will:
- Discuss any changes in your menopause symptoms
- Review and manage any potential side effects of HRT
- Consider any new medical issues or changes in your health
- Agree together on the most appropriate and safe plan for your ongoing menopause care
You may be asked to bring up-to-date blood pressure readings to your appointment.
Attending an annual review is essential for us to continue prescribing your HRT through the clinic. This ensures your treatment stays up to date and tailored to you.
3. Blood Tests
Routine blood tests are not normally required for standard HRT.
However, blood tests can be useful in specific situations, and your specialist may recommend them if they are likely to support safer or more effective care.
Tests may be offered to:
- Help assess hormone levels in younger women or those with irregular cycles where the diagnosis is less clear
- Check baseline health markers such as thyroid function, iron levels or vitamin D when symptoms could have more than one cause
- Monitor certain medical conditions that may influence your HRT options
- Review treatment response in a small number of cases where hormone levels could guide adjustments
Your doctor will only recommend tests that are supported by evidence and relevant to your individual care. If blood tests are advised, we’ll explain why they are needed and how the results may refine your treatment plan.
